| Can I use this indoors? | No, the device is designed to be used outside with clear view of the sky. |
| Can the device be placed anywhere outside? | The device needs clear line of site to the stationary satellite. You can use our tool (link here) to check your location and the direction to the satellite and angle that is needed. |
| Can I mount the device at an angle? | The device must be installed on a flat surface with the antenna pointed to the sky for optimal performance. The device may not provide the best results mounted in different orientations or at slight angles. |
| Can I place the unit inside other housing? | The device can be placed in other plastic housing. Metal housing cannot be used as that will block the signal to the satellite. |
| Can the Dev Kit be powered by USB-C? | Yes, the Developer Kit can power use the USB-C for power and this will recharge the battery as well if the switch is on the ON position. Note that some power banks may not work due to the low current drawn by the device. |
| Do I need batteries? | No, the Developer Kit comes with a rechargeable battery for testing purposes only. |
| What are the interfaces that can be used on the Dev Kit? | The Developer Kit has the following interfaces available, which are operated at 3.3V: 1x Digital I/O 1x I2C 1x UART 1x SPI |
| Does the Dev Kit come with its own App? | Yes, the Developer Kit comes preloaded with a demo app by default. For custom applications you can use the Nordic platform with the HyperPulse Library. |
| Can I use my own SIM card? | At this time you must use the Myriota provided SIM card. |
| Can I use the Dev Kit as a Production unit? | No, the Developer Kit is designed as test unit for development and short outdoor testing. The included rechargeable battery is not designed for production use. |
Troubleshooting
Don't know / Can't find the IMSI
- Refer to the user guide to read the IMSI from the device.
Can't connect via USB
The device may be in low-power mode and the USB is disabled, therefore the USB won't be detected. Press the RESET button with the USB connected in this case.
No power
- Ensure the included rechargeable battery is plugged in correctly to the battery socket on the board. It will only plug in one way.
- Check the power switch is set to the ON position
- The battery will need charging if the voltage is lower than 3.3V. Ensure the power switch is ON and leave the device plugged into a USB charger overnight.
- Check if the device can be powered via USB. Note that some power banks may not work due to the low power drawn by the device.
No data
- Check that the device is powered correctly via the 'No Power' steps above.
- Check that the SIM card is inserted properly - Refer to the user guide.
- Confirm the device is installed with a clear view of the sky.
- Check the TagoIO destination configuration using the Test Destination function in Device Manager.
- Verify the message reception in User Messages in Device Manager.
