Overview
In this article:
Myriota AssetHawk™ is a rugged, battery-operated asset tracker enabled by global connectivity via the Myriota 5G HyperPulse Network. Designed to "just work" in harsh and remote environments where cellular coverage is limited or unavailable, it offers a comprehensive solution for tracking outdoor assets regardless of their location.
On-boarding
On purchase of the AssetHawk™, you will receive an email to activate your account for accessing Myriota's Device Manager portal. This portal allows you to view messages from your AssetHawk™ and also redirects the data to your preferred data platform.
The AssetHawk™ comes pre-assembled with a Myriota NTN SIM that is already registered against your Device Manager account. When you complete the account activation and log into the Device Manager portal for the first time, you should already see the IMSI of your AssetHawk™ listed against your account.
Before transmitting live data from your device, it's suggested to set up "Message store" as a destination on the Device manager portal. This will ensure the raw messages from your device are stored and displayed on the Device Manager portal. In addition, it is recommended to set-up your device on the TagoIO visualization platform to ensure decoded messages are displayed correctly. This pre-configuration step guarantees that no messages are lost during operation and that your data flow is visible from the moment your device goes live.
To complete the setup, follow the step-by-step instructions in the TagoIO Integration Article.
Preparation
- Computer with a USB 3.0 port or higher
- Phillips #1 Screwdriver
- 2x L91 batteries e.g. Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA size
- AssetHawk™ device
Factory Configuration
AssetHawk™ comes pre-programmed with a tracking application that is configured to report elevation, latitude, longitude, longitude, sequence number, time, temperature and battery voltage. By default, the device will schedule messages every 6 hours if it is stationary, and every 2 hours when moving. These and other parameters will be able to be modified in future updates of AssetHawk™.
Alongside the Application firmware, Myriota releases Network Information that ensures the devices stay synchronised with the HyperPulse network schedule. By default, the device is shipped with the latest Network Information programmed and therefore ready for deployment.

Deployment
Where to Mount
Correct placement ensures the best performance:
-
Flat mounted on the highest suitable surface of the asset being tracked, with the Myriota logo facing the sky
-
For mobile assets, choose a location that has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky while in motion
-
For static assets, avoid installing under roofing, metal covers or heavy vegetation. The device must have a direct line of sight to the satellite for correct operation. Link to download the HyperPulse DeployAssist Android / iOS app and the app user guide is available here.
Mounting Options
Magnetic Mount
- Suitable for ferromagnetic surfaces
- Best for when you need to relocate or move the device between assets
- Provides 25kg of holding force - secure enough for the majority of applications
Adhesive Pads
Apply the adhesive pads in the specified locations on the back of the device:

The fastening points are designed for M4 bolts or 8G screws with a cap or button head. Countersunk heads will damage the unit:
Viewing Your Data
Once you have deployed the device following the steps described above, you should expect to see the first message arrive on Device Manager and TagoIO Dashboard approximately 2 hours.
Viewing Messages on Myriota Device Manager
To view messages from Myriota Device Manager, add ‘Message Store’ as a destination for the AssetHawk™ IMSI listed on your account.
The 10 most recent messages from the device will be displayed under User Messages History.
